Paloma Bustos
Crime Survivor Services Program Manager, RISE Program, Loyola Law School
Paloma Bustos currently serves as a Crime Survivor Services Program Manager for the Rights in Systems Enforced (“RISE”) Clinic at Loyola Law School with Loyola Marymount University. She holds a Master’s in Social Work and has culminated ten years of experience working directly with victims of crime. In her role with the RISE Clinic, she is responsible for supporting victims of crime by providing access to safety and resource to address the emotional and physical needs of the trauma and stress associated with their experience and to further the purpose of legal representation. Prior to joining RISE, she was the Program Manager for CDLF Counseling, where she was responsible for overseeing their partnership with five divisions of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) as part of the Domestic Abuse Response Team (DART), a multidisciplinary crisis response team that partners police officers with community-based advocates to provide immediate crisis intervention and follow-up services to domestic violence victims and their respective families. In addition, she provided training to law enforcement on signs and symptoms of abuse in addition to education on trauma-informed care utilize for appropriate response to survivors. Prior experience has included working as a domestic violence specialist in collaboration with Family and Juvenile Dependency Court in Santa Clara County, where she provided assessment and treatments recommendations for treatment services.
Jatnna Gomez, LBSW
Director of Partnerships, University of Maryland SAFE Center
Jatnna Gomez, LBSW is the Director of Equity and Community Engagement at the University of Maryland SAFE Center for Survivors of Human Trafficking. Ms. Gomez brings more than a decade of experience working with vulnerable communities in Maryland and the District of Columbia. She has worked with vulnerable youth, victims of gender-based violence, immigrant population, BIPOC-led community organizations and other groups. Ms. Gomez has worked with various victim services, public health, healthcare, and youth enrichment organizations to provide programming, advocacy, education, crisis intervention and leadership programming. In her current role, Ms. Gomez advises senior SAFE Center leadership, coordinates diversity and inclusion trainings for SAFE Center staff, and works with the different teams to use an equity and inclusion lens to evaluate SAFE Center policies related to personnel, programs, and clients, as well as SAFE Center partnerships and external advocacy work. Ms. Gomez currently chairs the Prince George’s County Human Trafficking Task Force Victim Services Committee and is a member of the Freedom Network USA Steering Committee.
