Work Without Fear: The State of Employment Protections for Survivors
Date & Time
May 6, 2026 12:00 PM in Pacific Time (US and Canada)
Description
When survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking go to work, they often face serious challenges — missed time, safety concerns, or job loss at the moment they need stability most. The good news: many states have laws to protect them. The hard part: most advocates, attorneys, and survivors have never heard of these laws. That's exactly what Futures Without Violence's Advancing Safety Project is working to change. On Wednesday, May 6 from 3–4 PM EDT, join us for a national webinar to: - Get the findings first. We've mapped out the current state employment protections for survivors across all 50 states and territories. - See what employment advocacy looks like in practice. Advocates and attorneys from California, Florida, West Virginia, and Minnesota will share real stories about developing support so survivors can use these laws. - Be part of what's next. We're co-developing a new tool to help advocates and survivors identify relevant workplace protections, fast. You'll hear about it first, and you can sign up to help shape it. All are welcome. Live ASL and Spanish language interpretation will be provided throughout. This project is supported by Grant No. 15JOVW-23-GK-05464-MUMU awarded by the Office on Violence Against Women, U.S. Department of Justice. The opinions, findings, conclusions, and recommendations expressed are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the views of the U.S. Department of Justice.
