Coastal storms or severe winter weather can lead to evacuation, sheltering, or service disruptions. Extreme weather can interrupt case management, access to benefits, transportation, and communication, school schedules and regular routines - potential gaps traffickers may exploit. These situations may heighten risks for clients already vulnerable to exploitation or trafficking. This workshop will address how displacement increases vulnerability for trafficked and at-risk youth and adults and their families and discuss preparedness strategies and community networking that can support safety during both weather emergencies and domestic violence or trafficking related crises.
