Sex Trafficking: Understanding the Reality Behind the Headlines

A special Human Trafficking Prevention Month webinar

Join World Without Exploitation (WorldWE) for a special webinar discussion, Sex Trafficking: Understanding the Reality Behind the Headlines, to be held on January 12th at 12:00pm Eastern

High-profile cases involving figures like Jeffrey Epstein and Sean “Diddy” Combs have sparked widespread public attention—and confusion—about what sex trafficking actually is. In this special Human Trafficking Prevention Month webinar, World Without Exploitation returns to the fundamentals to clarify the realities behind the headlines.

This webinar will break down what sex trafficking is—and what it is not, using real-world examples to explain how power, coercion, control, and exploitation operate in trafficking situations. Participants will explore how trafficking can be present even when it does not fit common myths or stereotypes, and how elements of trafficking have appeared in well-known cases. We will also discuss third parties including sex buyers and how they further trafficking and exploitation.

Moderated by World Without Exploitation National Director Lauren Hersh, this conversation will feature Director of Women's Equal Justice, Jane Manning; Executive Director of My Life My Choice, Audrey Morrissey; and Liz Stein, Human Trafficking Specialist and Survivor Advocate. These experts will provide a grounded, accessible overview of Sex Trafficking, equipping participants with a clearer understanding of the issue and the language to discuss it accurately with survivors centered in the conversation.
