The session is designed for a wide audience, including mental health professionals, victim service and social service providers, healthcare practitioners, criminal justice professionals, students, researchers, educators, survivors, and lived experience experts, anyone seeking to deepen their understanding of trauma bonding and its effects on survivors of trafficking and other forms of violence.

Featured Presenters

🔹 Dr. Joan A. Reid, Ph.D., LMHC
Professor of Criminology and Director of the USF Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Research Lab at the University of South Florida. Dr. Reid is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Certified Rehabilitation Counselor with over 60 publications on child sex trafficking and trauma. Her work has been cited by state and federal agencies as well as State Supreme Courts. Her latest book, Trauma Bonding and Interpersonal Crimes, examines trauma bonding across a range of interpersonal contexts.

🔹 Klejdis Bilali, PhD Student, RMHCI
Doctoral student and graduate research assistant at the USF TIP Research Lab. Klejdis also serves as a registered mental health counseling intern with USF Pediatrics’ Infectious Disease Program, providing psychotherapy to disadvantaged youth living with HIV. His research focuses on interpersonal violence, human trafficking, and child abuse, with an emphasis on prevention and intervention.
