Black women are still fighting to be free from sexual exploitation.
Join the World Without Exploitation (WorldWE) Youth Coalition on Thursday, February 29th at 6:00 pm EST for Black History in the Sex Trade: Marginalized and Overrepresented.
In honor of Black History Month, we will be discussing the impact of the sex trade on communities of color in the United States. Black women and girls have been sexually exploited throughout American history, beginning with the slave trade. Today, Black women and girls are consistently overrepresented in the sex trade and targets of sexual exploitation, violence, and fetishization.
Moderated by former WorldWE Youth Coalition member Dakota Green, we are honored to host Vednita Carter, the Founder of Breaking Free and a pioneering leader in the sex trade abolition movement, in conversation with Melanie Thompson, a survivor leader in the fight against commercial sexual exploitation and Outreach and Advocacy Coordinator for the Coalition Against Trafficking in Women.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Warmly,
The WorldWE Youth Coalition Leadership Team
