This training is intended for professionals and volunteers who work with youth and families in the legal system. 

 

Participants will learn:

Youth mental health has become a particular point of emphasis in juvenile court and other areas of the legal arena in recent years.  This training will focus on current trends in adolescent mental health, overlap with substance use disorders, impacts to adolescent mental health resulting from the pandemic, and resources that are available in King County that serve this population. Attendees will learn how to engage parents to support the mental health needs of adolescents and an overview of outpatient and inpatient mental health systems will be provided.

 

This training will be offered only once, via Zoom Webinar. Please register in advance.

Presenter:

 

Chia-Chi Bonnie Wang, MSW SUDP MAC MHP

 

Bonnie Wang received her Master of Social Work at the University of Washington, Seattle in 2007. Ms. Wang is a Washington State Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP), Mental Health Professional and Nationally certified Master Addiction Counselor (MAC). She has 15 years of experience working with individuals and families affected by substance use and co-occurring disorders in community-based organizations. Ms. Wang is the Clinical Director of Washington Asian Pacific Islander (WAPI) Community Services in Seattle, WA.  WAPI Community Services provides prevention/early intervention services, and behavioral health treatment services to youth and adults.  Ms. Wang is also an adjunct professor for the Social Work Department at Seattle University, and has taught addiction counseling courses to undergraduates and postgraduate students. She is also a certified Adult and Youth Mental Health First Aid instructor.

 

 

1.25 CLE and CJE credits have been requested- pending approval

Registration is required for attendees seeking CLE, CJE, and for any Dependency CASA staff/volunteers.
