Description: This training is for service providers who have foundational knowledge about sexual exploitation and trafficking and are ready for a deeper dive into skill and practices. This training combines three topic areas: Stages of Change, Safety Planning, and Addressing Running Away Behavior, into an Advanced Skills lab to explore specific challenges and strategies for working with youth who have experienced sexual exploitation and trafficking.

Learning Objectives:

• Explore the Stages of Change: behavior change theory, model, and application and learn how to recognize and target service responses to each stage.

• Learn about different types of safety and contexts for what makes people feel safe.

• Explore opportunities to build safety into relationships and learn concrete strategies for creating and supporting implementation of safety plans.

• Understand the running away as a behavior and learn to identify the related “Push/Pull factors” to guide interventions for running away.
