Collaborating with Runaway and Homeless Youth Providers 

Registration is now open for the Collaborating with Runaway and Homeless Youth (RHY) Providers webinar presented by the Freedom Network Training Institute Housing Training and Technical Assistance Project. 

RHY programs provide essential services for runway and homeless youth. Many trafficked youth often interact with the RHY system. This webinar will provide anti-trafficking service providers with an introduction to the RHY system and ideas for collaborating with RHY providers to meet the housing needs of youth survivors.

  • An overview of resources available to youth through RHY programs

PRESENTERS 

 Karen McHenry LISW-S, LCDC Program Director, Homeless and Missing Youth Programs 

Bellefaire JCB 
Karen McHenry serves as director of Bellefaire JCB’s Homeless and Missing Youth Programs, which offer intervention, safety and short-term solutions for children and youth who are homeless. Ms. McHenry provides training for law enforcement, community partners, professionals and young people on the topic of homelessness. Additionally, she collaborates with Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court and Cuyahoga County Department of Children and Family Services (CCDCFS) to develop safety plans for at risk teens. 

Tammy Hopper Chief Strategic Initiatives Officer  National Safe Place Network 
Tammy L. Hopper brings more than 25 years of experience as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She has worked on an inpatient psychiatric unit for youth; served as a member of a Mobile Crisis Unit; and, worked as a therapist for a project dedicated to preventing sexual abuse of Appalachian children. Tammy has extensive experience working with runaway, homeless and street youth and she currently serves as the director of the Runaway and Homeless Youth Training and Technical Assistance Center, a federal center providing services to more than 600 programs in the United States and territories. She has served as the Chair of the National Council on Youth Policy, the Director of Public Policy for the National Network for Youth and spent 20 years as a member of the National Safe Place Advisory Board.
